RomM

Browse and download games from your own RomM server. Needs the RomM add-on from a patron build.

RomM is a game library you host yourself. With the Clamshell RomM add-on, you can browse your RomM server on Home and download games to your handheld.

Set it up

  1. Install the Clamshell RomM app, from the same place you got Clamshell.
  2. In Clamshell, turn on Settings › Library › RomM.
  3. Choose Open RomM and enter your server's address, the one you open in a browser. For example

192.168.1.20:8080 or romm.example.com.

Sign in

After the address, the add-on shows a QR code and a code. Scan the QR code with your phone, or open the address it shows, and enter the code. The handheld signs in once you approve it. A new code appears every few minutes if you don't use it.

Under Other ways to sign in:

  • Pairing code: make one in RomM's web page, under your account's client tokens.
  • Username and password: type them on the handheld, or choose Type them on your phone.

If your server is older and doesn't support the phone code, the add-on goes straight to these.

Or put your RomM address and token on clamshell-fe.com/keys and import them (see Art and game info). This turns RomM on too.

The RomM folder

Once you're signed in, a RomM folder appears on Home with your server's systems and games.

  • Press A on a game to download it. Press A again when it's done to play.
  • Press Select to add a game to the download queue instead.
  • Press X for more: Download now, Game details and Downloads.

Games download into your ROM folder, so they show up in your library like any other game. In a system's X menu, Smart download fills a size you choose with the best-rated games.

Use RomM away from home

If your server can also be reached from the internet, for example through a Cloudflare Tunnel, add that address too:

  1. Open Settings › Library › Scraper › Accounts and keys. The RomM section appears once you're

signed in.

  1. Choose Address away from home and enter it, like https://romm.example.com.
  2. Choose Test it.

Clamshell tries your home address first and only uses the away one when home doesn't answer, so downloads at home stay fast. It checks again every few minutes and moves back home when you're back. The same sign-in works for both.

If you use Cloudflare Access: let /api/ and /assets/ through without a login, or Clamshell can't get in.
